Ketamine Therapy
Ketamine Therapy
In Denver, Colorado
Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) combines the psychedelic experience and mental health benefits of Ketamine with psychotherapy. Incorporating this type of experience into therapy has been shown to facilitate frequent breakthroughs and sustained improvement in symptoms.
What is Ketamine?
Ketamine has rapidly-acting antidepressant and mood-enhancing effects, which can begin to take effect within 1-2 hrs. after treatment and can last for a few weeks. After a full course of treatment (3-6 ketamine sessions) people often see life changing improvement.
What does Ketamine feel like?
Most of my clients reported feeling a sense of peace and joy accompanied with pleasant, relaxing physical sensations. Many people feel connection, compassion, and shifts in perception that can often feel expansive in nature. This experience usually lasts about 45 minutes.
How does Ketamine Therapy work?
The primary component to all therapy is the relationship between you and your therapist. We will spend as much time as is needed on creating a foundation of trust, comfort, and rapport.
These session may focus on learning skills to improve your mental wellbeing, increased self awareness, and preparation for your psychedelic experience.
Once we both feel good about introducing the ketamine, I will refer you to a psychiatric prescriber who can assess your needs and prescribe the medication.
Dosing Session - we will schedule a 3 hour appointment in which we will create an environment of safety and peace. We will check in and review your intentions and goals for the experience. You will take the medication. After about 15 minutes the medication will be in full effect. You will likely be able to see you life with more clarity and compassion. I will be present to help you process these feelings, create a container of safety, and debrief the experience after.
Integration - We will meet a few days after each dosing session for at least one 1 hour integration session to review the memories, thoughts and insights that arose during your dosing session, and to prepare for the next dosing session.
